Whilst looking at many different online portfolios for inspiration for the direction to put my own portfolio in, as well as for this week’s task, there was one portfolio that stood out to me the most. The portfolio that stood out for me was by multimedia producer, Drew Tewksbury.

The first aspect of Drew Tewksbury’s portfolio that caught my attention was the minimalist and clear layout and formatting of the page. On the main page, there is very little writing other than a short biography about the creator which includes some of their achievements and companies that they have done work for previously. I feel as though this layout makes it easy to navigate the portfolio.

I also liked the colour palette that has been used throughout this portfolio. The header of the page is muted, neutral colours, with small amounts of pink to highlight important information. I feel as though the brighter pops of colour against a muted background bring life to the page. However, when you scroll down on Drew’s home page, there are large blocks linked to different sections of his portfolio (writing, photography etc). These blocks all have photographs with brighter colours that stand out on the page. By using photographs with brighter colours it makes it more eye-catching to the viewer. I think that looking at the way that Drew has used colours throughout his portfolio has shown me that colour schemes are important and can make a difference in how audiences will view your portfolio.

Overall, I feel as though I can take a lot of inspiration from looking through Drew Tewksbury’s portfolio and can hopefully look to incorporating similar aspects into my own portfolio in the future. I also found it useful to look through many other different portfolios by other creators to see what styles I feel may work for my portfolio, but also to look at some styles that were not for me, but that I could still learn from.
