What are your weaknesses?

I believe my weakness is that I sometimes lack confidence when pitching my own ideas during group discussions. However, I have recently been working on and improving my confidence skills and I have noticed a positive change already.

Why should we hire you?

Your advertisement for this internship states that you need someone who understands the importance of audiences on different platforms. I believe that I am someone who has a good understanding of different social media platforms as I currently write a travel blog with social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook that run alongside. From writing this I also have very good researching and written communication skills which are important qualities for journalism.

Why do you want to work here?

I have regularly read articles on your website for the past few years since I first discovered one about the 2016 US Election. When I came across the advertisement for this Summer Internship, I was excited about the opportunity to work at your company and then after I researched further, I have become more interested by the prospect of working in a fast-paced, international company. It would also be an honour to work amongst some of the world’s leading journalists.

What are your goals?

My goals are to continue to learn and develop the skills required to become a successful journalist. My more long-term goals are to be able to continue to work in a company that is international and gives the opportunities to work in offices abroad as I have always wanted to report on international news.

Why did you leave your old job?

My previous role was working as a teaching assistant in a nursery. This role enabled me to gain experience in a fast-paced environment and develop many transferable skills that I can use in my career. I enjoyed and learnt a lot from this job; however, it was not an industry that I wanted to continue to work in.

When were you most satisfied in your job?

In my last role I always enjoyed and felt rewarded when working as part of a team and working out the best way to complete tasks and getting things done, both in putting on a small production and in different ways of helping the children learn.

What can you do for us that other candidates can’t?

I believe that I am a very determined person and I am enthusiastic to learn and develop my skills to become more experienced in the field. I also have very good written communication skills which are vital to be a successful journalist. I have also found through my course and my blog that I am highly motivated by both individual and group projects to meet set deadlines.

What are three positive things your last boss would say about you?

My previous boss always complimented me on my determination in both completing my assigned tasks and with helping the children learn. I was also praised for my ability and motivation to find a variety of ways to solve problems that occurred as well as my good team working qualities.

What salary are you seeking?

I am happy with the salary that is advertised with the internship. I would like to ensure that I am paid equally to people who are also doing the same role as myself.

If you were an animal, which one would you want to be?

I believe that if I were an animal I would be a dolphin. Dolphins are known for being incredible communicators and are good team workers, which are characteristics I have.
