Lane Moore has over 65,000 followers on Twitter and is an author, musician, comedian and director. Their voice in this tweet is more passive shows support to other women who have been through sexual assault. Their larger platform allows them to spread the message to a wider audience, showing support to more women.
TheSwiftSpace is a Taylor Swift fan account with 16 followers. The message from this tweet is attacking the arguments and justifications that some people make as to why some women are sexually assaulted. Although this account only has a small following, it was able to get a lot of attention due to the message that is displayed. The voice is this tweet is more aggressive and shows anger at the situation as well as wanting change to happen.
Although these two accounts have a large difference in the number of followers between them, the smaller account received a larger amount of attention in proportion to the account follower total. I believe that due to the tweet voicing the anger that many women felt during this time, it was able to gain a large amount of support. However, I believe that having a large following on social media does make it easier for is to be spread as it will receive a higher engagement from the account’s followers and as a result be pushed out to a wider audience.
