One of the most important recent sporting moments was Lewis Hamilton winning his 7th Formula One World Championship and becoming the most successful Formula One driver in history. Lewis Hamilton claimed his 7th Drivers World Championship, equalling Michael Schumacher’s previous record, at the Turkish Grand Prix on the 15th November.
Hamilton has received praise for having one of the best drives of the season after being able to adapt and control the difficult conditions of the racetrack – with the changing weather conditions and the newly resurfaced track with very little grip available. After qualifying in 6th position on Saturday, many had ruled Hamilton out of podium chances for the race. However, by keeping a calm head while other drivers were struggling around him and by making the right strategic calls during the race, Lewis Hamilton showed why he is the most successful Formula One driver.After the race, it was clear to see how much winning meant to Lewis Hamilton.
After the race was completed, Hamilton stayed sitting in his car for a while before the interviews, taking in what he had accomplished. Overcome by emotions, Hamilton was congratulated and praised by competitor, fellow world champion and friend Sebastian Vettel. This was a touching moment for Formula One fans to see the respect that has formed between Hamilton and Vettel, two of the most successful Formula One drivers currently on the grid, as they have been rivals for many years in the sport.
