Personal Development Plan
After Graduating from Coventry University, I plan to further my education in the field of journalism to aid in achieving my goal of becoming an international political journalist.
During my time at university, I have learnt about different platforms and how they are used to engage with people. I will also learn how journalism and journalistic techniques have changed over time as the media has developed. I will also engage with the journalism industry by attending guest speaker events that are offered. By writing short articles about guest speaker events in 184MAPA, it has allowed me to engage with analytical and a reporting style of writing. Over the next years of my course at university, I am going to choose modules that have a relation to journalism or that cover how the media is used in politics and current affairs around the world.
To achieve this goal, I will need to work towards obtaining further journalistic skills. I plan to participate in short journalism courses to gain these skills as well as applying to get work experience opportunities with companies with the journalism industry. I also plan to study abroad for a year. This will allow me to learn about the differences in journalism abroad as well as allowing me to gain international experience. At university, I also take Global Leaders as my advantage module which allows me to learn more about different cultures and politics around the world.
